5 Essential Tips to Follow When Cleaning Your Kitchen Cabinets

November 21, 2020

Like any other homeowner in Phoenix, Arizona, you’ve probably spent a fair amount of time designing the kitchen of your dreams. After all, it’s one of the most critical parts of any house; from entertaining guests to cooking up a storm on family game night, the kitchen is the heart of any modern home.

Of course, you can’t ignore the most essential aspect of any kitchen: its cabinets! You’ve already done most of the heavy lifting by choosing your favorite style of cabinet, overseeing installation and more — but the work isn’t done yet. If your cabinets become dirty after a few weeks of use, what’s the point?

Fear not. In this article, we’ll show you how to keep any cabinet in Phoenix, Arizona, as pristine as the first day you set eyes on them.

1. Don’t Use Abrasive Ingredients

We’ve all dealt with stubborn stains that never seem to disappear — even after a dozen wipes. However, as tempted as you might be to use the most heavy-duty cleaner you can find, we recommend avoiding products that contain harsh chemicals, like ammonia. While these might make cleaning a bit smoother, they’ll ruin the look of your cabinets and destroy all the hard work you’ve done so far.

2. Clean Them Consistently

There’s no shortage of ways to spend your time in Phoenix, Arizona, from the city’s vibrant nightlife to its unparalleled food scene. While it’s always a good idea to have some fun, you shouldn’t let it distract you from keeping your cabinets clean!

We recommend giving your entire kitchen — not just those gorgeous cabinets — a complete wipe down every three to five days. Doing this regularly will prevent your wood from collecting trouble spots and help maintain its color.

3. Keep Them Dry

Fortunately, Phoenix isn’t exactly known for being a particularly wet or damp place to live. Still, every homeowner should avoid leaving moist items near their kitchen — even if you’re in Arizona. Doing so could wear down the primer on your wood and eventually cause them to rot. Keep those wet cleaning rags in the sink: not hanging from your cabinets!

4. Stick to Natural Cleaners

Artificial cleaners might appear innocent at first glance; however, many of them contain harsh ingredients that’ll wear down your precious cabinets over time.

Unsure what else to use? Try this money-saving hack and mix these ingredients for a homemade natural cleaner: vinegar, water and oil. Put it in a spray bottle and save yourself a trip to the store.

5. Try Using A Toothbrush

This odd-yet-effective hack can keep your Arizona kitchen sparkling for years down the road. Because some cabinets boast ornate, detailed grooves that are magnets for dirt and dust, conventional cleaning rags just won’t do.

A toothbrush, meanwhile, can get into cracks and crevices quickly thanks to its flexible plastic bristles. Squirt some of your favorite natural cleaner onto the toothbrush’s head and keep those patterns grime-free with a few swipes!
